General Description
The USB-1208LS Personal Measurement System™ from Measurement Computing adds a low cost analogue and digital I/O interface to any USB port. Providing 8 single-ended or 4 differential analog inputs with 12-bit resolution, the USB-1208LS offers sample rates up to 1.2 kilosamples/sec (8 ks/s for up to 4000 samples). The 8 software selectable input ranges are ideally suited for a wide assortment of measurements. In addition to the analog inputs, the unit provides 2 channels of 10-bit analog output, one 32-bit counter and 16 bits of digital I/O.
Reliable and rugged enough for industrial applications, yet inexpensive enough for home projects, the USB-1208LS is the perfect way to add measurement and control capability to any USB capable computer. The USB-1208LS is fully USB plug and play and easy to use. It obtains all required power from the USB port, so no external power connection is ever required.
At 3.25 inches wide by 3.125 inches long by 1inch high, the USB-1208LS is large enough to make connecting field wiring easy, yet small enough to fit on even the most crowded bench. Magnetic and Velcro mounting options along with a .225 inch attachment hole make mounting easy even in unconventional installations. The attachment hole can also be used by a cable lock or padlock in applications where unit security must be considered.
Software for this device is provided in a variety of forms, one of which will be ideal for any application. The unit ships with InstaCAL, Measurement Computing's powerful installation and test application, and is compatible with Measurement Computing's powerful Universal Library. The USB-1208LS is also supported by most popular data acquisition applications packages including SoftWIRE® and LabVIEW®. Further details on the various software options are shown below.

TracerDAQ™: out of the box software that allows you to read from both analogue and digital inputs, and also supports logging to disk at rates below 10 Hz. You can use the supplied programming tools, including Universal Library, Universal Library for LabVIEW and SoftWIRE, to access the analogue and digital outputs and create custom applications.
